GRS – Global Recycle Standard Certification

What is GRS?

GRS is an international, voluntary, finished product standard that specifies requirements for third-party certification, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions of converted products. The aim of GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and to eliminate/reduce the damage caused by the manufacturing process.

GCL International’s accredited scope for GRS includes:

  • Converted fiber content in textile products

Objectives of the GRS

  • Grouping of definitions used in many applications
  • Tracking and tracking of converted input materials
  • Providing consumers (brands and consumers) with tools to make informed decisions
  • Reducing the harmful effects of production on people and the environment
  • Providing assurance that the materials in the final products are actually recycled and processed in a sustainable way
  • Proposing innovative approaches to quality issues in the use of recycled products

GRS is a standard for use in products that use at least 20% recycled materials. All production stages, starting from the recycling process, from the last company to the last seller of the trade, must be certified. Material collection and material concentration facilities are subject to declaration of competence, document collection and on-site visits.
